Contextual approach 1

Sneak peak of our scene.

FYI, its not the real photos, its just photos from Google and other sources that similar to our scene.

VENUE :

1) Rooftop, the first meeting/meet up.

Rooftop, the most calming and quiet place to release your mind.
Its high.
Can feel the wind blowing, natural air.
Journalist meet up with the Blogger at night.
Have privacy, no interruption.
Only buildings lights can be seen, reflected on half of their faces.
Rooftop is the best place to meet up for a private meeting/meet up because people cant really see who's at the rooftop from below.

This is the Blogger.
A WEIRDO, BUT she's the one that have been studying/investigate everything about the Journalist, like the movements and others.
A wacky blogger, wearing a lacy shirt, long black pants and black boots.

Rule of Thirds :
Characters placed on the side of the frame on intersection points.
Make the viewer focused on the 2 peoples from the blurred city lights.

2) Tunnel

How the genre can contribute to design?

Everything is in black and white in Noir films.
To focus on certain points, easy to be seen and differentiate the perspective.
In the sense of visual communication, the tunnel will be taken with only one light present at the end of the tunnel.

Lights at the end of the tunnel, theres still hope & way to go out from the dark places.
The journalist feels calm when see the lights, theres a chance for her to escape.
BUT...
The lights fooled her.
Its a dead end.
NO WHERE TO RUN, except running backwards to the tunnel.

The silhouette created by the lights that communicate to the audience.
Makes it more scarier.
Easily focus/detect the character's body movement/language, as the Journalist panics and trying to figure out way out.
By this, itll make the viewer confuse and eager to know whats gonna happen next.

COMPOSITION VALUE

Different tones of black and white create different feelings.
High contrast light is easier to differentiate the objects.
Different shades of grey, using various brightness of lights.

Various kinds of compositions can affect the outcome of the scenes.
Some will make it good.

Unpleasant effect, but it makes the effect nice.

Leaving a little shadow and space, would be great.
Makes it more mystery and dramatic.

METAPHORS AND ANALOGIES

In our film, there will be a lot of hidden messages.
Some objects are the signs to create more context in the story.
The presence of the technologies signified the presence of the Blogger investigate/finding out more bout the Journalist's movements.

MAKING OUR OWN CULT FILM

THE CULT

Basically in the previous post, Ive explained whats the meaning of cult and stuff. This time, Mr Charles asked us to make our own cult movie. Theres me, Lisa, Jamie and Ailsa in a group. So ill tell you guys more, maybe bout this cult movie. Dont want to put it all here cause we all wanna surprise you guys whats gonna happen. We gonna put the main points. HERE WE GO...Ohmygod..Wait, no. Wait, alright alright. Haha. Soooo...

The cult is a cult full of seekers. They seek for more knowledges/informations/answers to the world from some artworks whom they believe they have been formed into codes. So, they steal codes to practise so that they can get more ways to decode the biggest coded mystery.

Thats pretty much the visualisation of the story.

Now Im gonna talk about the characters.
- Reporter
-Blogger
-Cult (seekers)

REPORTER

- people who are trying to go against globally and influential things.
- smart, tries to seek out for more 'truth'.

BLOGGER

Extremely absorbed in culture/phenomenon, believes nothing should go against it, even goes crazy!

THE CULT (SEEKERS)

- High authorities that manipulate everything.
- Thirst so much for knowledge, they would do anything/everything to get more.

OUR REFERENCE

Yep this movie kinda inspired us like how our cult movie gonna be and to get some ideas.

TIMELINE OF OUR CULT MOVIE

The cult steal the code, then the reporter investigate about it. During investigation, she comes across a very insightful blog written by an anonymous bloggerShe goes to find blogger. Cult notices reporter's intelligence useful for their code-breaking, requests reporter to join them. Reporter knows nothing about this and continues making visits to blogger to extract more background about cult as so far, cult has only given her orders to carry out their work - to solve the stolen code. Thus, to help the cult achieve their goal, blogger pushes reporter deeper into the cult whereby she gets used. When there was no use for the reporter to be in the cult anymore the reporter realises what is going on and tries to leave. Cult dont want to take any risk, not telling anyone bout what theyre doing so they killed the reporter. The new information was tested on breaking the ultimate code and it was successful, so cult carries on with learning the new knowledge to be presented to their leader. They mapped out everything and meet at a secret location. On the eve of transferring what has been discovered, blogger appears.

The trigger gets pulled. BANGGGGGGG! ....... ;)

IDEATION VISUALS

This scene will be at Pangkor Island cause we'll be going there.

This is only the ideation visuals. So we might add or minus some of the scenes.

THIS IS THE FINAL ONE.
Some of the scenes.

RUNNING FOR DEAR LIFE

Wobbly cameras are used to create the same effect of the unstable, building up scared feeling. Some scenes were used whereby the camera only shoots the ground on a shaky pace with haggard panting sounds. This can increase tension while not providing any music in the background as the main character tries to run away from whatever was chasing her.

At a car park. Character thats sprinting endlessly. It gives the silent suspense and a possibility that someone is already there, watching her every move as she blindly runs into her death.

ONE OF THE RUNNING SCENES

IDEA VARIATIONS.

Long and curved space to give the running character more areas to explore.

CCTV ROOM

NARRATIVE SEQUENCE

From the pictures we have obtained, we sketch out our drafted ideas. Each person deals with a different scene.

IM DOING 3 SCENES.

Our storyboard.
Each person has different scenes to draw out and we pieced them together.
